Corrections policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
We want everything on this site to be accurate. If you find an error — a wrong number, an outdated fact, a broken link, anything — please tell us and we will look at it within a few business days.
1. How to report an error
Email us at the address below. Please include:
- A link to the page where the error appears.
- What the error is, in your own words.
- If you have one, a link to a source that shows the correct information.
You do not need to be an expert to report something. If a sentence reads as if it might be wrong, that is enough reason to send it our way.
2. How we handle corrections
When a report comes in, we:
- Acknowledge it within two business days.
- Check the claim against the source we originally used and against at least one independent source.
- Decide whether the change is substantive (changes the meaning), cosmetic (typo, formatting), or a matter of judgement (we have a different reading of the facts and stand by ours).
3. Substantive corrections
When we make a substantive correction, we update the article, update its "updated" date, and add a dated correction note at the bottom of the article that describes what changed. We do not silently rewrite history.
Where a correction materially changes the conclusion of an article — for example, we recommended a product we should not have — we add the correction note at the top of the article, not at the bottom.
4. Cosmetic fixes
Typos, formatting glitches, broken links, and image swaps that do not change the meaning are fixed silently. We do not bump the "updated" date for these.
5. Disputed claims
If you disagree with our reading of the facts and we have looked at the evidence and still disagree, we will reply to you explaining why. We may add a clarifying note to the article. We will not change a conclusion just because someone asked us to.
6. Takedown requests
If we have written something about a person, brand, or business that is factually wrong and harms them, we will correct it on the timeline above. For other takedown requests, contact us and we will respond.
